The Shenendehowa High School Nordic team is doing very well! Led by Arron Huneck and Owen Putnam and Amy and Sarah (on fire) Duclos twins, the team is going places fast.
Snow conditions remain marginal here locally. We have had almost 2 inches of precipitation this month. If all that moisture had come as snow we would have two feet of snow on the ground. We were able to hold an evening of introductory ski lessons on 5 inches of new snow two weeks ago.
Best skiing locally might be skating on the old canal segments in the preserve. With the cold weather the ice is real safe, except right around the historic willow springs. The inch of new snow yesterday might hold some control for a “flat ski.”
Conditions at the Saratoga Biathlon Club in Day were ideal this weekend. The club is looking forward to hosting our Shenendehowa Classic fundraiser race there on Saturday, February 14, 2015. We hope to see you there.
